A resident of Artesia, New Mexico since 1927 passed away on March 15, 2002, in Ruidoso, New Mexico, she was 81 years of age. Bert N. Muncy, Jr., Margaret's husband of 61 years, preceded her in death in December of 1999. Margaret was the only daughter of A.P. "Doc" Mahone, former mayor of Artesia, New Mexico, and Flossie Mahone, both deceased.

Margaret was born in Maude, Texas on October 22, 1920, and moved, with her parents to Artesia from Lubbock, Texas in 1927. Her father "Doc" Mahone came to Artesia as owner and operator of the Artesia Dr. Pepper Bottling Company.

Margaret graduated from Artesia High School in 1937, and married the boy next door, Bert N. Muncy, Jr. in 1938. She was a member of the Artesia First United Methodist Church for almost 75 years. Margaret's fondest memories were always of "her church.", where she served willingly in various positions. Margaret was also a member of PEO, a womens service organization, for over five decades, and was very active in the Artesia Community Concert Association for over 35 years.

Margaret and Bert were actively involved in the oil and gas business for most of their lives. Bert and Margaret began retirement in 1995 when they sold their interests in Bilco Supply Company, L&M Drilling Company, and Larue and Muncy Production Company.

Margaret's retirement, like Bert's, was soon marred by the onset of Alzheimer disease which ultimately claimed her life late Friday afternoon.

Margaret is survived by two sons, A. Nelson Muncy, an Engineer in Artesia, and Martin B. Muncy, an attorney in Las Cruces, and Ruidoso, New Mexico. Margaret is also survived by two grandchildren, Jason Muncy of Dallas, Texas and Kim Muncy Haydon of San Antonio, Texas, and two great grand daughters, Taylor and Lauren Haydon, also of San Antonio. Margaret will also be missed by her daughters-in-law, Pat Muncy of Artesia, and Dr. Bonnie Muncy of Las Cruces.

20 "Betty" Munsey was born Eula Virginia Moles, in the small hamlet of Providence in Greene County, Tennessee, October 27, 1914. The home where she was born was located across the field from the peaceful presence of the Providence Methodist church. Her faith and church remained central to her whole life. She grew up as one might think in that era before the Great Depression, working with her family on the farm, walking long distances to school or riding a horse when the weather was bad. Her childhood friends were faithful and true all through life. When she moved to a larger town as a young woman, she caught the eye of a young man who recognized a prize when he saw her. They were married three months after their first date, on November 18, 1939. She was his soulmate and helpmate, moving around the south with his job until they settled in Little Rock, AR in 1945.

They joined First Baptist Church immediately and were active members for sixty-three years. Betty taught in the kindergarten Sunday school department for 30 or so years, retiring after her youngest grandchild went to first grade. It was in Little Rock that George invented the Munsey Oven Toaster so Betty would not have to heat up the kitchen to make buttered toast in the summer for their children. He started his manufacturing company in 1953. Together they grew the company into one that earned the appreciation of U.S. homemakers and the respect of the "Big Boys". When Betty continued her life in 1983 as a widow, she became dear friends with several women who were also entering this same season of life. They were in church together, grieved together, exercised three times a week together, traveled, celebrated birthdays and life together into their nineties. Betty moved to Bentonville in 2008 to be with family, but leaving behind in Little Rock family and longtime friends. In Bentonville, she enjoyed the opportunity to be with her grandchildren and great grandchildren with their visits and activities. She was always thrilled for a visit from, and a chance to see, her Son Ronny, and grandchildren, Brad and Brian and friends from Little Rock, especially her former pastor, John Wright and his wife, Jeannie.

She is predeceased by her loving husband, George B. Munsey; her parents, Wilson H. and Charlotte McMackin Moles; her brothers, Harold and Emmett Moles; her sisters, Elsie Smith and Gladys Gregg, and grandson, George Bradley Munsey. She is survived by her son, Ronald L. Munsey, his wife, Rita; daughter, Peggy Smith, her husband, Richard; grandchildren, Brian Lee Munsey, his wife, Sandy, Ronald Blaine Munsey, Ashley Elaine Smith, Richard Brent Smith, his wife, Melody, Rebekah Smith Campbell, her husband, David; great-grandchildren, Janie and Leah Munsey, Zane, Gabriel, and Phoenix Smith, Coen, Rainey, and August Campbell.

The family would like to offer special thanks to the staff at Concordia Arms in Bella Vista, AR and also, the staff at Hospice Home Care in Little Rock, Ark. for their loving care.

Memorial may be made to: Hospice Home Care 2200 S. Bowman Road, Little Rock, AR 72211. or First Baptist Church 62 Pleasant Valley Drive, Little Rock, Ark. 72212.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home Chapel 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Ark. (501) 224-8300 with burial to follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at the funeral home. Online guestbook: www.rollerfuneralhomes.com/chenal.

22 "From the notes of Ralph Muncy, is states that through old letters it is told that John was a half-brother of Levi Muncy as were William, Abel, Nimrod and Alexander. John was Livi's favorite. He in the company of his older brother John guided wagon trains to the Pikes Peak area in the late 1850's and also to the Salt Lake City area. Levi was but a youth at the time." Muncy, John A. 23 "The Sabbath Recorder", Vol 59, No 50, p 797, Dec. 14, 1903.

Anna Muncy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O. J. Muncy, died at the home of her parents in Hammond, La., December 2, 1903.

She was a member of the Seventh-day Baptist church at Hammond, was 25 years old, and was a graduate of the Hammond High School in the class of '97, where she won the place of valedictorian. No one in Hammond was more widely known, or more loved than she was. Her life was a willing sacrifice for those she loved. Her sad death was the result of the prick of a hat-pin in her arm just five weeks before.

A lovely floral offering was presented by the Hammond High School, and beautiful music was rendered by the choir of the Seventh-day Baptist church. One of the songs, "Jesus, Lover of My Soul" was one which she tried in her weakness to sing during her last conscious moments, thus revealing the purity of the heart now stilled in death. The funeral services were conducted by her pastor, assisted by Rev. D. M. Breckenridge of the Congregational church.

24 "The Sabbath Recorder", Vol 71, No 19, p 607, Nov. 6, 1911.

Charlotte B. Crandall was born in Brookfield, N. Y., 1846, and died October 6, 1911, at Hammond, La.

She was married to O. J. Muncy of DeRuyter, N. Y., in 1872. To them were given two daughters, Alice L., now wife of J. E. Wallace of Neoga, Ill., and Anna M., who died eight years ago.

She united with the Clarksville Seventh-day Baptist Church in 1868, where she remained an active member until their removal to West Hallock, Ill. From there, after some years, they moved to Nortonville, Kan. She was a consistent member of both these Seventh-day Baptist churches. From Nortonville they came to Hammond, La., where she was a member of the Seventh-day Baptist church at the time of her death.

Mrs. Muncy was ill only a few days. Her illness resembled ptomaine poisoning. Her physician had it under control and she was mending rapidly when there was a change for the worse, probably paralysis, and she sank rapidly.

She was a devoted wife and mother, a loyal friend, untiring in loving deeds of kindness to all in need. We can fully realize her loss only as we are learning to live without her.

25 "The Sabbath Recorder", Vol 86, No 18, p 575, May 5, 1919.

Orson J. Muncy, March 19, 1919, in Sarasota, Fla., in the seventy-fourth year of his age.

Orson J. Muncy was born in DeRuyter, N. Y., July 29, 1845, wherein all of his early life was spent. His entire educational training was received at the DeRuyter Institute. At twenty-seven years of age he was married to Miss Charlotte B. Crandall, of Brookfield, N. Y., and resided at the latter place for one year. Thence the two moved to West Hallock, Ill., where their two and only children were born, and where they resided six tears. The children were Mrs. Alice Wallace, now of Hammond, La., and Mary Anna, the latter departing this life fifteen years ago in Hammond.

From West Hallock the family moved to Nortonville, Kan., where they lived eighteen years, Mr. Muncy conducting a mercantile business and a successful farm. At length it became apparent that the health of the wife and mother required a change of climate, and after considerable investigation it was decided to move to Hammond. The determining factor was, without a doubt, the religious one, that in Hammond was a flourishing Seventh Day Baptist church. November 1, 1896 was the date when Mr. Muncy and family began life here, making a period of about twenty-three years.

Seven years ago Mrs. Muncy departed and went to her heavenly home. She was greatly missed.

About four years ago Mr. Muncy went to reside in Sarasota, Fla., where he entered into the sacred relation of marriage with Mrs. Emma Collins, of that place.

At nearly every place where Mr. Muncy resided through his whole life he had the privilege of attendance upon Seventh Day Baptist worship. He was a devoted attendant and a strong supporter of the Seventh Day Baptist church. A man of strong character, with high ideals as to right and wrong. He was unswerving in the path which appeared to him to be the course of duty.

Mr. Muncy leaves a devoted companion, a sister, Mrs. Libbie Hayes, of DeRuyter, N. Y., a daughter, Mrs. Alice Wallace, of Hammond, La., and two grandchildren, Clyde and Charlotte Harriett Wallace.
