looking for information on parents of George Washington Muncy (1812-1889;ID i7638) and Elijah Muncy (1810-1888; ID i7663). Both were in Wood County, West Virginia in the 1840-1850's. They may have have been brothers or cousins and are assumed descendants of the Francis Muncy line. George relocated to Illinois before the Civil War and died there, but Elijah remained in Wood County where he died.

Ruby Muncy, born abt 1917 in Dorothy, Raleigh County, West Virginia (according to her daughter's birth certificate) was listed in the 1930 Martin County, Kentucky census as "niece" in the household of George and Jennie (Muncy) Harris. It has now been determined that Wade Muncy son of James Guy and Eliza Muncy was the father of Ruby. Ruby next appears in the 1940 Census in Dixon, Illinois as an epileptic patient of the Dixon State Hospital where her daughter was born. She was "released to self" in 1965. After that, she drops off the map and no further records have been located. Do you have any information on this Ruby Muncy? The family is seeking answers!

While we have a lot of information on his descendants, we have no information on the parentage of George W. Munsey, born in 1782 In Pittsfield, Merrimack County, New Hampshire. He died 12 Dec 1861 in Gilford, Belknap County, New Hampshire. He married Hannah Barton in 1804 in Merrimack County, New Hampshire. We believe there were twelve children born to this union. It is assumed (based solely on locality) that he is the son of a descendant of William Muncy of New Hampshire, but any information of his parentage has been elusive. Any information or clues to help solve this mystery would be greatly appreciated!!

We are still looking for the family of Francis Muncy in England. The most likely location of his birth is Cambridgeshire (see the FEATURE item on the English Cambridgeshire research), but proof has been elusive. Any new ideas or leads will be pursued!
