Muncey, who has been for many years oneof the foremost farmers and stock raisers in Collin County died at his home near Corinth Church in thenorthwest part of the county last night. He was past seventy years of age, having been barn in LeeCounty, Virginia on February 29, 1836. Ho was raised on the farm and attended the county schools until 21 years of age, he then entered college at Mossey Creek, Jefferson County, Tennessee, for a term of two years. After which he returned to Lee County. Virginia and taught school until the breaking out of the Civil War in the spring of 1861. Ho joined the Confederate forces in May 1861, and was assigned to duty under General John B. Floyd in North Virginia. On the 29th day of March 1866. he was married to Miss Emily J. Ely, daughter of Nimrod C. Ely, of Lee County, Virginia. Worked on the farm in summer and taught school in fall and winter, for several years. He collected taxes two terms in Lee County,Virginia and in 1873 moved to Collin County, Texas. He bought 80 acres of land and has followed farming, stock raising and stock breeding on the same spot of land, with good success. Having bought nearly 1000 acres more land adjoining this first 80 acres and in adjoining counties. He leaves besides his aged widow, two sons and one daughter, all of wham are married and have families of their own. He was a member of the Baptist Church, being a conscientious Christian. He was buried at 3 o'clock atCottage Hill Cemetery under auspices of Roseland Masonic Lodge, having been a honored member of that torder for many years...(The McKinney Democrat Gazette.
