Sam Muncy, 85, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2014, at his home on Mattie Road, Louisa, Ky. following a long illness.

He was born November 15, 1928, in Martin County, to the late Melvin and Mary Maynard Muncy.

He was a retired carpenter.

His loving wife of 62 years, Ella Goble Muncy, died in 2012.

In addition he was predeceased by a brother, William Hoosier, sisters, Susie Maynard, Dixie Bowen, and Amy Lou Preece, and a grandson, Franklin Ray Sammons.

He is survived by a sister, Sally Blackburn, Marrowbone, WV., a step-daughter, Ellen McCoy of Columbus, OH., his children, Eldon Muncy, Peggy (Charles Ray) Sammons, Pearlie (Danny) Diamond, Sam (Anita) Muncy, Jr., James (Brandi {fiancé}) Muncy, Joseph Muncy, and Sam Michael Muncy all of Louisa, Ky., Brenda Grim of Flat Gap, Ky., and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be at at 11 a.m. Saturday January 25, 2014, at the Young Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Charles Sammons, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at the Goble Cemetery in Martin County.

6163 Sam Muncy, age 71, of Eaton, OH was called home to be with God Monday, March 9, 2020 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born October 10, 1948 in Harlan KY to the late Willard Sr. and Ruby (Frye) Muncy. Sam joined the Naval Reserve in 1966 and was called to active duty three weeks before graduation at Eaton High School. He was a discharged from the U.S. Navy in 1970. Sam was a truck driver for Pepsi-Cola; hauled cattle and produce across the country; worked for Emerson Electric for 24 years; and after retirement, hauled grain and fertilizer. Sam was a member of the Eaton Community Church; was a member of the American Legion Post #322 in West Alexandria; and was a member of the Preble County Honor Guard. Sam loved his God, his country, his family and enjoyed working. He loved his horses, fishing, drinking coffee and sharing stories. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by grandson Jacob; sister Colleen Mason; brother-in-law Paul Crowell; and sister-in-law Barbara Taylor. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Nancy Crowell Muncy of Eaton; son Jeremy (Liz) Muncy of Aurora, IN; daughter Dawn (Greg) Jardine of Lebanon; grandchildren Clay, Cara, Chance Muncy and Samara and Dalton Ord; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2020 from 10:00 am until time of funeral service at 12:00 noon at the Eaton Community Church, 813 Camden Road, Eaton, OH 45320 with Pastor Dan Denlinger officiating. Burial will follow at Preble Memory Gardens in West Alexandria with military honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard and U.S. Navy. Memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420. 6164 Sammy W. Munsey (Sam), 51, of Roanoke, died Thursday, October 16, 1997.

He was an employee of Double Envelope and he also was an antique dealer at Green Market in Salem. Mr. Munsey was a U.S. Navy Veteran.

Surviving are his parents, George E. and Freedia B. Munsey, of Roanoke; sisters and brothers-in-law, Brenda Sue and Preston K. Hundley, Linda M. and Vince Seneker; one niece, Terra Sue Chambers and husband Roy, all of Salem; seve ral aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Services will be at Oakey's South Chapel, 10 a.m., Monday, October 20, 1997. The Reverend William Logan will officiate. Internment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. Friends may call at Oakey's South Chapel, from 7 to 9 p.m., Saturday, and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday.
