| 6209 | Served in the Revolutionary War under Captain Cloyd and Captain Patton company. Will written in Montgomery County date 19 Jan 1813, names wife Mary; daughters Jane and Polly (under 21); sons Luke, Elijah, James and Levi (under 21) and son John. Notes “sons that have not yet received” implying older sons that have received. NOTE; Most published genealogies have Luke listed as the son of Samuel (the brother of Nathiel). However, in old correspondence with James Muncy he notes the following: “My proof on the paternity of luke comes from a diary of the son of lukes sister (a proven daughter of nathaniel the elder) who married a thomas, and lived also in nc. The son in old age wrote his recollections of his youth in nc and recalled luke having visited them only once. Thomas thomas was a next door neighbor of francis 11 in delaware. It was the son of thomas thomas who married luke's daughter.” Nathaniel Muncy did have a daughter Sarah who married Jesse Thomas. Sarah Muncy Thomas died in North Carolina. The name “Nathaniel” appears frequenly in the descendants of Luke. I have not seen the diaries noted above, but circumstantial eviidence appears to indicate Luke as the son of Nathaniel. | Muncy, Luke Sr. (I2781)
