| 6502 | The father of Mary Muncy is unknown. One source lists Isaac Muncy as the father, without citing sources, but this is likely an error linking ANOTHER David Muncy who was a son or grandson of Isaac Muncy, but the dates do not work out Another family source lists Henry Muncy as the father of Mary Muncy, but no one by this name can be found in Harlan County Records. Father of Mary is unknown/unproven -- but this line is included in Francis Muncy descendants because many of his descendants were in the Kentucky, Virginia and Tennessee during this period. | 6507 | The parentage of this George Washington Muncy is unproved but based on circumstantial evidence. Jesse Muncy m. Sarah Riley on 1 March 1809 in Harrison County, West Virginia (WV Marriages Index 1785-1971) Jesse Muncy is listed in the 1810 census of Harrison County, WV. His age is about right for his first marriage. 1 male <10; 2 males 16-25; 1 female 16-25. Since assumed son Elijah was born in 1810, he would be listed in the <10 category so that checks out. Age ranges for both Jesse and Sarah are correct. But who is the additional male age 16-25? A worker? A cousin? A brother? The 1820 census for Wood County (county formed from Harrison) does not list Jesse Muncy. Shown is Sary (Sarah?) Muncy in the correct age grouping of 26-45. Also listed is one male (<10), and that corresponds to the 1812 birthdate for son George W. Muncy. No males is listed in the age grouping for Elijah but we know from the 1810 census that a male should be in that age group. Perhaps he is living with a relative, or wasn't counted. Unproven. Needs additional evidence, but there are no other known Muncys in the area during this period. Riley (Sarah's maiden name) is a common name in GW Muncy's descendants. | 6511 | There are conflicts between censuses, obituary and social security records about the year of her birth. Social security says 1882 and obit says 1882 but that conflicts with the year given for sister Jennie. Her actual year of birth is PROBABLY 1884 but that is a guess. | Muncy, Minnie Belle (I2880)

| 6514 | There is confusion on Internet sites about the parents of William H. Muncy. Ancestry trees are in error. Samuel/Elizabeth Muncy of Giles Co., VA are not the parents of this William Henry Muncy. A person with that name is listed with them in the 1850 census in Giles Co., VA --BUT our William Henry Muncy is in Dallas County, Texas in 1850. Samuel Muncy / Hannah Black are not the parents of our William Henry Muncy - and it is hard to see why people think they are. Their son William was born in 1831 in Ohio (not Virginia or Kentucky). He died in Ohio in 1853. He could not be William Henry Muncy in Texas marrying about 1851 and having children in 1853, 1855, and 1858. 1850 Census - Dallas Co., TX shows a William H. Muncy (b, ca 1820) - state of birth "unknown." He was living with the Collins family. It is likely that someone other than William provided the answers since he is likely to have known the state he was born in, and the age 30 may have been an estimate. The 1850 info should be considered unreliable. 1860 Census - Dallas Co., TX - shows him born in Virginia ca 1827. He is married to Sarah E. Muncy, with three children. STATE OF BIRTH: the 1860 Dallas, Co. census shows him born in Virginia. Gilford (his son) in 1900-1910-1920 censuses shows his father born in KENTUCKY. Daughter Zerelda death certificate shows father W.H. Muncey born in Kentucky. NOTE: After the Civil War, some were anxious to distance themselves from the confederacy and it is possible that they said "Kentucky" since it was not a part of the confederacy. Both Kentucky and Virginia should be considered possibilities. Daughter Zerelda death cert shows mother as Sarah Riley. Most census records show Sarah E. Muncy to have been born in Illinois, but Zerelda's death cert shows Kentucky (probably an error guessing that was born in same state as W.H. Muncey, who was shown born in Kentucky. No records to indicate this for sure, but William and Sarah were probably married in Texas around 1850-1852. Best guess is 1851. | Muncy, William Henry (I3450)

| 6517 | This Moses is sometimes confused with Moses Muncy, son of Thomas Muncy — but he IS NOT the son of Thomas. This Moses that married Rachel Jones in 1848 - before the 1850 census - and is listed in Tazewell, VA with Rachel in that census. Moses, son of Thomas Muncy was living with Thomas Muncy family in 1850 census (age 24). This Moses was not married in 1850 and married Arminta Horn in 1857. | Muncy, Moses (Mose) (I47)
