815 COSBY, Thelma Muncy, 97, of Richmond, departed this life June 3, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Clifton David Cosby; and her parents, Dr. Peery J. Muncy and Eva Lumsden Muncy. She was a long-time member of Westover Baptist Church, where she taught pre-school Sunday School for 64 years, and Vacation Bible School, rarely missing a Sunday until March of this year. Thelma was born in her family home on 3rd Avenue on September 20, 1916. She was a graduate of John Marshall High School, 1933, and Richmond Business College, 1934, where she was a member of the Pi Delta Phi sorority. She worked in secretarial positions for several years after college. Throughout the years she remained close friends with her sorority sisters. Thelma was a devoted wife, mother, friend and servant of the Lord. She was loved by everyone who knew her, and will be greatly missed. Her family and her church were her greatest loves. With no brothers or sisters, Thelma considered her husband's family in Powhatan as her own. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 8, at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd. The service will be held at Westover Baptist Church, 1000 Westover Hills Blvd., on Monday, June 9, at 11 a.m., with visitation an hour before. Reception to follow service. Will Munsey. Survivors: sons and daughters in law, Judson and Louise Crawford, Scott and Jan Crawford, Roy and Peggy Crawford, Troy and Annabee Crawford, Wayne and Mary M. Crawford, and Rev. Jerry Glen and Donna Crawford; daughters and sons in law, JoAnne Roegelcin, Jane and Vick Carter, Mintie and Jerry (Ish) Rosenbalm, and Genda [sic] and Howard Mynatt; 37 grandchildren; 66 great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren [sic] brothers, Jerry and Frank Munsey; sisters, Lena Rose and Thelma Smith, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services 2 p.m. Wednesday, Cooke Mortuary Chapel, Rev. Jerry Glen Crawford and Rev. Dewayne Fortner officiating, with music by Donna Crawford and Ruby McElhaney. Interment in Yadon Cemetery, Maynardville. Active pallbearers: grandsons, Bobby Crawford, Glen Craford, Wayne Crawford, Jr., Michael Mynatt, Joe Buckner, Charlie Buckner, and Jay Lynch. Remaining grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Cooke Mortuary, Maynardville.
