- Mark A. Munsey Jr., 86, went to be with the Lord at his home in Kpt., Tn on August 13, 2017.
Mark Jr. was born April 28, 1931 in Appalachia. He was an awarded veteran in the Air Force during the Korean War and became an educator in the Wise County Public School System for 31 years after receiving his Bachelors degree from ETSU and a Masters from Virginia Tech.
He was the Chairman of the Committee for the building of the Veterans and Miners Walls in Appalachia, Va. He was also on the veterans committee that planned and built the Kingsport Veterans Memorial. Mark served on the board of directors of the Lenowisco Planning Commission and saw that a bridge was named in honor of Pat Crizer, the only 3 star general from Appalachia.
