- Muncey, Dr. William A., p.o. Virgil, physician and surgeon, born in Truxton in 1832. Wife, Lodema J. Brooks, of Cortland, daughter of Ransom J. Brooks, born in 1843, married in 1864; children two: Wilfred B. and Ransom B. Parents, Stearns and H. (Nicholson) Muncey, the former of Rensselaer county, died in Chemung county in 1883, the latter of Chenango county, died in Tioga county in 1873. Dr. Wm. A. Muncey was a graduate of Philadelphia American University in 1874, also the New York Eclectic Medical College, in 1882, read medicine with Dr. Nobles, of Waverly, commenced practice in Waverly in 1858 under the old State law, and in 1859 settled in Virgil where he now resides.

Virgil, Feb. 1 - Dr. William A. Muncey, 90, for a great many years a practicing physician at Virgil, died last Saturday morning after a week's illness of pleurisy. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at the home of his elder son, William B. Muncey.
Dr. Muncey was born at Cuyler, Sept. 15, 1831. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Stearns Muncey and he was one of their family of six children, only one of whom survives, Mrs. Armenia Woodside of Athens, Pa. Both of his brothers reached the age of 90 years.
Dr. Muncey and Lodemia J. Brooks were married Feb. 24, 1864, and celebrated their golden wedding on that date in 1914. Mrs. Muncey has been an invalid for seven years and constantly under the care of her husband.
They have two sons, William B. Muncey and Ransom B. Muncey, both of Virgil; two grandchildren, Mrs. S.S. Dickinson of Cortland and George Muncey of Virgil; and three great-grandchildren.
Dr. Muncey retired from active practice of his profession fifteen ago. He was a member of the Methodist church more than fifty years and he and Mrs. Muncey were faithful attendants as long as health permitted.
