Virgil Man, Dies
Wilfred B. Muncey, 67, a trustee of Cortland Savings Bank and retired business man of Virgil, long in ill health, died at his home at Virgil, Tuesday, February 23. Services were held Thursday afternoon at 2 at the residence and at 2:30 in the Virgil M.E. church and burial was in the Virgil cemetery.
Completing his course in the Normal school, he was a school teacher for a period and then engaged in business, first in Cortland and then in Virgil, his home town, where he was associated with his uncle, the late W.A. Holton. He succeeded Mr. Holton as proprietor and ran the store until he retired in September, 1922.
He was supervisor of the town in 1905-6, and was a church trustee and fire commissioner besides being a trustee of the Savings Bank.
Mr. Muncey was a son of the late Dr. and Mrs. William A. Muncey of Virgil. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Eva Elster Muncey; a daughter, Mrs. Samuel S. Dickinson of Cortland; a son, George Muncey of Virgil; and a brother, Ransom B. Muncey of Cortland.
