Born April 15, 1911 at War, she was a daughter of the late Henry Lee Altizer and Patty Sparks Altizer. She was a member of Independent Church of the Living God at Shop Hollow. She was a special mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, and aunt. We are thankful to the Lord for letting us have Mom all these years. She loved attending church when her health permitted, as well as canning her vegetables and fruit, cooking for all her family, crocheting and watching her religious programs.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Izear Muncy; three sisters, Susie Altizer Pack, Menty Lou Altizer Myers, and Rebecca Altizer Muncy; four brothers, George W. Altizer, Riley Altizer, Henry Roosevelt Altizer and Frank Altizer; special sister in law, Clara Muncy Rutherford; special son, Cecil Muncy, who died in 2006; son in law, Tom Harman; grandson, Roger Lee Graham; granddaughter, Sheri Lynn Muncy Brown; two nephews, Raymond Muncy and Buddy Lee Muncy; two nieces, Annie Muncy and Connie Muncy Branch. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Okie and her husband, Izear, helped raise her sister and brother in law's children after her sister Rebecca's death.
Left to cherish her memories are three daughters, Eloise Graham and husband Lee of Cucumber, Effie Collins and husband Sherman of Shop Hollow, and Shirley Harman of the Dix Creek community of Bandy, Va.; seven sons, Lawrence Muncy and wife Madeline, James E.
