Mr. Munsey was a native of Hawkins County, a son of the late A.F. and Anna E. Munsey.
He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, the Kerbela Shrine Temple, and a member of Lodge #231, F&AM.
Mr. Munsey was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
He was a district sales manger for General Electric.
Mr. Munsey's family noted that he was an avid golfer, fisherman, and hunter, and loved to camp and be with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 17 years: Mary Munsey; his children: Mrs. William (Sheryl Lynn) Featherstone and Joe Wayne Munsey, both of Salt Lake City, Utah, Mrs. Joseph A. (Mary M.) Specht II of Cranford, N.J., and Mrs. Tim (Patricia N.) Labenske of Phoenix, Ariz.; his grandchildren: Kathryn Snyder, Audra Johnson, Kendra Corell, Joseph Gillies, Michelle Jackson, Casey Copier, Jody Copier, Ranie Olorenshaw, Jesse Roy Specht, Joseph A. Specht III, Jeremy Specht, James Labenske, and Jonathan Labenske; seven great-grandchildren; six brothers: Robert Munsey, Howard Munsey, Bud Munsey, Ralph Munsey, Otis Munsey and Herbert Munsey; a sister: Claudestine Lowe; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Benjamin Munsey, and a sister, Mary Munsey.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Mayes Mortuary, 444 W. Main St., Morristown.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Saturday morning in the mortuary chapel. The Rev. Howard Munsey will officiate.
Interment will follow in Hamblen Memory Gardens. The Rev. Mike Henegar will officiate.
Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #5266, will conduct a military graveside rite.
