  WHITT E. MUNSEY Whitt E. Munsey, age 86 of New Tazewell, was born Feb. 21, 1909 and passed away Monday, April 24, 1995 at St. Mary's Hospital. He was a member of New Tazewell United Methodist Church where he served on the Administrative Board and other committees of the church. He was a long time merchant, businessman, and farmer. He was one of the owners of Munsey Furniture Company, and a community and civic leader. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anderson and Barbara (Earl) Munsey; son, Lynn Munsey; brother, Lawrence Munsey; stepmother, Mrs. Velta Munsey. Survivors: wife, Mrs. Zolian (Harmon) Munsey, New Tazewell; daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Dr. Leslie Doss of Nashville; grandchildren, Rebecca Green, Nashville, Kelly Munsey, New Tazewell; sister, Lourene Munsey; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Hazel Munsey; sisters-in-law, Sally Munsey of New Tazewell, Anna Mae Neely and Mrs. Cecil (Barbara) Essary, all of New Tazewell; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 26 in New Tazewell United Methodist Church with Rev. John Clark officiating. Singers were Lisa Vannoy and Elizabeth Estep. Burial in the Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers: nephews and great nephews. Honorary pallbearers: Cecil Essary, Buddy Duncan, Cotton Loope, Shelby Harmon, Q. G. Fortson, Danny Mallicoat, Walter James, Tom Fugate, Tommy Noah, Dr. Charles Debusk, Dr. William Smith, and William Russell. Coffey Funeral Home in charge.
