- MUNSEY, ANDREW JACKSON 'JACK', was born April 12, 1918 and went to be with the Lord July 13, 2002, at Claiborne County Nursing Home. He was a member of New Tazewell Christian Church since 1953 where he served as a Sunday school teacher and elder. He was a Christian and family man. At the time of his death, he was co-owner of Munsey Motors in New Tazewell. He was in business at Munsey Furniture Company for over 50 years until its closing in 1984. He was a charter member of the New Tazewell Lions Club. He served on the New Tazewell City Council, the Claiborne County Commission, and the board of directors of Claiborne County Hospital and nursing home. While his greatest love was his family and church, his enthusiasm for trading will never be forgotten. He was preceded in death by his parents, Barbara Earl Munsey and Anderson Munsey; step mother, Velta Munsey; sons Kenneth E. and Ronnie L. Munsey; brothers Lawrence "Goob" and Whitt Munsey. He is survived by: wife of 65 years, Hazel Harrison Munsey of New Tazewell; son and wife, Jackie and Kay Munsey of New Tazewell; daughter-in-law, Dana (Gerald) Bradley of Seymour; grandchildren, Andy Munsey, Russ and Rance Munsey, and Tim Munsey, all of New Tazewell; four great-grandchildren; sister Lourene Munsey; sisters-in-law, Sally Munsey; Zolian Munsey, all of New Tazewell; several nieces, nephews and countless friends. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2002, at Coffee Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Mayo Proctor, the Rev. Tom McFadden, and the Rev. Mike Parker officiating, and Kenny Trent singing. The body will lie in state 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in the Shoemaker Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5-9 p.m. Monday, July 15, 2002, at the funeral home. Pallbearers: Andy, Russ, and Tim Munsey, Bill Russell, Mack Poore, Kelley Munser, Gerald Bradley and Lawrence Pressnell. Honorary pallbearers: Larry Estep, Clarence Overton, Doyle Mountain, Bud Torbett, Paul Veneable, Dr. Christian Spiel and Rayme Lay. Coffey Funeral Home, New Tazewell, is in charge of arrangements.
