  Find A Grave Memorial# 106662784 VIRGINIA PVT CO B 50 REGT VA INF CONFEDERATE STATES ARMY At the beginning of the war between the states he was fourteen years of age.  As soon as he was old enough to be permitted, he entered the service of the Confederacy as a member of Company B 50th Virginia Infantry.  His first Captain was A. S. Vendeventer who afterward was made colonel of the Regiment.  The 50th Virginia Regiment participated in some of the greatest battles of the war.  It was a part of Stonewall Jackson's Corps, and after his death was commanded by Gen. R. S. Ewell.  In the battle of the Wilderness May 5th, 1864 he (AB Munsey) received a wound which resulted in the loss of his left arm. He came back to his native county and joined with other valiant survivors of the lost cause in restoring the devastated Southland. He became active in the business affairs of the county, and was elected Sheriff, serving for one term.  Later, he was elected Clerk of the Circuit Court of Lee County and served two terms. He was a man of sound business judgement as well as of high integrity.  He was a kindly, genial man with a ready smile and was mentally and physically active "to the moment of his death".  He had been to the Post Office , then came home and sat down to read the evening paper when he suddenly dropped into dreamless sleep.
