- Boyd Merrill Muncy, 87, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2018, at his home in Garland, Texas. Inurnment will be at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
Boyd was born in Aurora, Colorado, to the late Harvey and Pearl Muncy. Boyd entered the U.S. Army in 1951 and served with the Second Infantry Division as an Armored Communications Chief, receiving his discharge in 1953. He attended Barnes School of Commerce in Denver, CO.
Boyd married Ruth Caroline Carpenter on September 19, 1953, in Raton, New Mexico. He began working for the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad in September of 1955 and was promoted to Chief Clerk and transferred to the Dallas agency on July 1, 1959. Boyd loved his life working for the railroad where he traveled the state and made many life-long friends. After 32 years with the D&RGW, Boyd retired in 1987 as a District Freight and Passenger Agent and dedicated his life to his grandkids and rainbow trout.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; brothers, Don Muncy and Kenneth Muncy; and sisters, Gladys Loney and Dorothy Soshea.
Survivors include his sons: Dennis Muncy, of Denver, CO, David Muncy and his wife, JoAnn, of Garland, TX, and Darrell Muncy and his wife, Roxanne, of Denton, TX; grandchildren: Dennis Muncy, Jr., Deanna Cox and her husband, Craig, Jeremy Muncy and his wife, Amber, Mitchell Muncy and Joshua Urbano, Megan Muncy and Martin Ibarra, Bryan Muncy and his wife, Katie, Amanda Blain and her husband, Andrew, and Angela Muncy; 15 great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
