Iona M. Hopkins, 92, formerly of Fort Worth, passed away Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009, in Lubbock.
Service: 1 p.m. Wednesday at Shannon Rose Hill Chapel. Interment: Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery.
She was born Oct. 5, 1916, in Elkins, N.M., to George Edward and Kittie Stephens Muncy and graduated from Slidell High School. She worked as a bookkeeper in Whitewright, for Sears in Denton and for Kohn Music in Fort Worth. She was a published poet in the Famous Poets Society and was a member of Meadowbrook Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Hopkins, on Sept. 29, 1979; and her husband, Ray Hopkins, on Dec. 8, 1982.
Survivors: Daughters, Jeanette Davis of Durant, Okla., and Charlotte Soliz and husband, Danny, of Lubbock; brother, E.L. Muncy of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Ronnie Oswalt and wife, Debbie, of Waxahachie, Kevin Bandy and wife, Linda, of Whitewright and Fonda Moneymaker and husband, Tim, of Lubbock; and three great-grandchildren.
