Mrs. Lura Muncy Meek, 76, of the Smoky Valley section of Louisa, route 1, died Monday night at her home after a two month illness. Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday from the Smoky Valley Baptist Church by the Rev. Gallie Isaac and the Rev. S. B. Ball. Burial was made in the George Meek Cemetery. Mrs. Meek, a member of the Methodist Church for 60 years, was born September 27, 1882, on Louisa route 1, daughter of the late James and Mary Elizabeth Prichard Muncy. Survivors include the husband, George Meek; a daughter, Mrs. Frank Martin of Louisa; three sons, Hubert, Burbon and Harlan Meek of Louisa route ; two sisters, Mrs. Frank Meek of Louisa route 1, and Mrs. Melvin Meek of Williamson, WV; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. The body was removed to the residence Tuesday at 4 p.m. from the Curtright Funeral Home where it remained until funeral time. Big Sandy News, February 19, 1959
