He served in the Navy during World War II in both the Pacific and Asian theaters. He was buried with full military honors.
He was a member of the Westminister Presbyterian Church in Rehoboth, Delaware where he served as youth director for several years. He was a board member of Big Brothers/Sisters, and was named Big Brother of the year in 1988.
He married Carolyn Elaine Argo on January 3, 1949, and they had two children: Robert Keith Muncy and Janet Elaine Sockriter.
