| Notes |
- Elizabeth Spangler Gose, having received her knowledge of medicine from Dr. John Stangler of Cripple Creek, rode the mountains in this section in response to any call for help from those who were ill. In those days the doctors made most of their medicines from herbs, bark, roots and berries. Anything a woman owned when she married was thereafter considered the property of her husband. When Philip's personal property was sold after his death, Elizabeth bought her tools for making medicine, consisting of 2 jugs, 1 mortar, 1 screen and 1 still for $1.00.
